The breakfast cereal breakdown

Unfortunately most breakfast cereals are loaded with added sugar and not much else. My Coco-Nutty Granola is a great sugar-free option for those looking for some crunch in their breakfast, but if you find yourself short on time and need to grab something from the supermarket, take this list with you.

“Eating a Heart Foundation-approved cereal (like Kelloggs Just Right) and a glass of apple juice for breakfast every day will add up to almost half a kilo of sugar by the end of the week.” – David Gillespie, author.

A note on store-bought cereals: Checking the sugar content of store-bought cereals isn’t always enough. Many cereals are overly processed, so we recommend you check the ingredients list for artificial sweeteners, artificial flavours and processed ingredients. The fewer ingredients on the list the better.

A note on milk: Serve with full-fat milk. If you’re lactose intolerant serve with coconut milk or Homemade Almond Milk.
